I don’t understand the purpose of the content of your comment. How does it relate to the lesson topic? A little respect for the creator and the members doesn’t hurt.

Let's write name of countries (United States of America, Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Republic of China, Hellas, etc) as they are usually written in English (USA, USSR, UK, Taiwan, Greece, etc) for the sake of clarity, saving space and to prevent diverting readers' attention from the most important information on this page - the films.

It is good to see that you are interested in this page and initiate discussions. There are some considerations that I didn’t write down. Now it is disclosed.

One reason I avoid the conventional usage is that they have inaccuracies and cause confusions. In the USA convention, “India” and “Middle East” are excluded from “Asia”; “Russia” is excluded from “Europe”; “Jamaica”, “Guyana” and other non-Latin countries/regions are included in “Latin America”.

The other reason I avoid the conventional usage is that they are varied. For example, the “Republic of the Congo” are conventionally called “Congo-Brazzaville”, “Congo Republic” or even “Congo”. They are all different conventions by different people. This introduces some complexity for searching. There needs to be some rules that keeps the name of sovereign states and dependent territories unique. Here are the rules:

Names are derived from their formal names. If the short name is shared by more than one sovereign state/dependent territory or if the short name is causing confusion with the geographical term, then use the formal name.

About the abbreviations, it is possible that multiple entities that share the same abbreviation, so I avoided them altogether, except when the name is connected by a hyphen, denoting occupied or controlled territory in a war.

The film titles are placed at the central column, which attracts viewers’ attention by default. I thought about changing the font size of file titles to big, but it will increase the length of the page. So I didn’t do it.
